Code of Conduct
North Somerset Council are committed
to creating an online community network called clearasmud.org.uk.
We want to create a service that is friendly, easy to use and above
all as useful as possible to the people who use it.
In order to ensure that the system is not abused all users must
agree to our Code of Conduct. This commitment applies to all aspects
of the web page creation by non-profit making organisations. Each
user is responsible for any information they provide for the website.
North Somerset Council are not responsible
for any content on the pages created by clearasmud.org.uk members.
Please note that only non-profit making community organisations
in the North Somerset area will have their pages accepted. New information
will not be made visible to general users until the details have
been verified.
Your Responsibility
Clearasmud.org.uk gives registered users the ability to create
web pages for their own community organisation. North Somerset Council take no responsibility and accept no liability
whatsoever for any material, words or pictures that are uploaded
to the site.
It is therefore important to remember that:
" You are solely responsible and liable for the information
you provide and any material you upload to the site "
We have the absolute right to eject or ban users and remove content
that breaches the Code of Conduct or Terms and Conditions.
Look after your own privacy
Remember that information on clearasmud.org.uk is visible to anyone
who accesses the site. We therefore advise you against giving out
personally identifiable information (credit card numbers, names
and addresses, etc) to other users.
Be polite!
Remember that people of all ages, races and beliefs may be using
the site and viewing your web pages. It is important to be polite
when communicating with other users and to treat everyone with mutual
respect. The Code of Conduct forbids users to:
- Harass, stalk, abuse or insult any other community user
- Make reference to another user in a racist or bigoted manner
- Incite others to violate the Code of Conduct
- Falsely impersonate anyone from clearasmud.org.uk or North Somerset
Council with the intent to mislead
others.
Remember that you are responsible for any information you provide.
Managers of clearasmud.org.uk have the absolute right to eject or
ban users and remove information that violates the Code of Conduct.
Stay legal
Clearasmud.org.uk does not allow any illegal activity within its
pages and forbids users from using the site to distribute any material
inappropriate for a website aimed at the community.
The Code of Conduct forbids users to:
- Upload words, pictures or any other material or information
that is illegal, indecent, dishonest, untruthful, defamatory or
obscene
- Use their pages to link to any other Internet website that contains
any of the above material
- Upload words, pictures or any other material that breaches a
third party's copyright
- Upload any material or software that could harm other users'
computers or affect the working of the site in any way
Don't Spam
Clearasmud.org.uk has the absolute right to ban users who persistently
"spam" upload irrelevant information or upload the same
information to several separate sites.
The Code of Conduct forbids users from:
- Advertising any profit-making business or service on the clearasmud.org.uk
service
- Repeatedly posting or uploading the same message to clearasmud.org.uk
- Using the space provided to buy, sell or license any product
or for any betting purpose

Membership Terms and Conditions
A qualifying organisation must agree to the following
terms and conditions before it may become a Clearasmud.org.uk
Community Network Member.
- We have set up this website to allow non-profit making organisations
in the geographical area of North Somerset to freely publish information
about or relating to their interests.
- The Clearasmud.org.uk Network Member, will be provided, free
of charge, the use of such software in the absolute discretion
deemed necessary to construct and maintain web pages in the "Clearasmud.org.uk
Member Web Pages".
- Clearasmud.org.uk Network Member will have free access via
a unique User Name and Password to create and maintain Clearasmud.org.uk
Member Web Pages.
- We reserve the absolute right to refuse to permit any individual
or organisation from becoming a Clearasmud.org.uk Network Member.
- We retain the absolute right to remove at any time without
notice the Clearasmud.org.uk Member Web Pages or any material
on the Clearasmud.org.uk Member Web Pages.
- Nothing in these terms and conditions shall be deemed to constitute
or imply any warranty by us, the Clearasmud.org.uk Member Web
Pages, or that the Software will at all times operate satisfactorily
without malfunction and we, for the avoidance of doubt, accepts
no responsibility and offers no indemnity in respect of any such
malfunction which may occur.
The Clearasmud.org.uk Community Network Member agrees to
- Construct and maintain Clearasmud.org.uk Member Web Pages using
solely the Software provided
- Ensure the Clearasmud.org.uk Member Web Pages do not contain
any material which is illegal, indecent, dishonest, untruthful,
defamatory or obscene or any other material which we reasonably
believes is inappropriate for publication on a website aimed at
the community
- Ensure the Clearasmud.org.uk Member Web Pages are not linked
to any other Internet website which we reasonably believes contains
material which is inappropriate for a website aimed at the community
- Ensure that the Clearasmud.org.uk Member Web Pages do not contain
material that breaches any intellectual property rights, including
but not limited to copyright, of any third party
- Publish on the Clearasmud.org.uk Member Web Pages notices which
we may reasonably request from time to time
- Inform us of any complaint it receives about the Clearasmud.org.uk
Member Web Pages as soon as practicable
- If we are informed of a complaint by the Clearasmud.org.uk Community
Network Member the parties shall forthwith agree a course of action
for handling that complaint. The Clearasmud.org.uk Community Network
Member agrees that it shall not respond to a complainant without
such prior consultation and agreement with us
- The Clearasmud.org.uk Community Network Member acknowledges
that any and all copyrights or intellectual property rights existing
in the Clearasmud.org.uk Software are and shall remain the sole
property of us
- The Clearasmud.org.uk Community Network Member shall permit
us to reproduce and/or publish free of charge any material placed
on the Website by the Clearasmud.org.uk Community Member
- The Clearasmud.org.uk Community Network Member agrees not to
publish anything that is defamatory, illegal, indecent, dishonest,
untruthful or which amounts to a contempt of court or an infringement
of any intellectual property rights belonging to a third party
and if any of these should occur, the Clearasmud.org.uk Community
Network Member agrees to indemnify us for any losses it suffers.
- Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall be construed as
establishing or implying any partnership between the parties and
nothing shall be deemed to constitute either of the parties as
the agent of the other party.
- The rights granted to the Clearasmud.org.uk Community Network
Member under these Terms and Conditions are personal to the Clearasmud.org.uk
Community Network Member and may not be assigned.
- These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed
in accordance with English Law and the parties each agree to submit
to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
The Community Network Member shall not:
- Use the Member Web Pages for the purpose of
financial gain
- Permit any third party to use the Member Web
Pages for the purpose of financial gain
- Divulge the Community Network Member's designated
User Name and/or password to any third parties other than those
agreed with us
